A lot of us spend most of our time glued to our phone screens these days. Some of us are guilty of grabbing our phones once we wake up in the morning and it’s usually not to read our Bibles but go straight to our social media feeds (I am very guilty of this - #dontjudgeme). I love apps, in fact I am an “app junkie” if there’s such a thing - always looking for apps that make my life easier (there’s an app for almost anything these days). It is important that we have the right apps that can move our lives forward so below are some of the apps that help in my daily walk with God:
Bible for Kids
This app is from Youversion - makers of the popular “Bible” app. The app comprises of 40 touch animated bible stories, games and activities. I use this app for my almost-9-month old daughter and it keeps her attention for at least a few minutes. We live in a world where kids are always glued to gadgets and all sorts of digital devices so this app is a great way to get kids to engage with the Bible. Instead of having them waking up and dashing to the TV or playing games, they can start the day with this fun, interactive bible app. Download this app and give your kids a fun filled experience reading bible stories.
This is one of the most popular bible apps so if there’s one bible app you should not live without it’s this one! YouVersion makes it easy to engage with the Bible, it has various study plans to choose from that can be used for your quiet time and it also has several translations. If you don’t want to read, you can listen to the Scriptures as you go about your daily activities. I also love the new feature that allows you to share your bible study plans with friends. Plans with friends allows you and a select group of friends to engage with God's Word by reading plans together. Download the app and enjoy reading the bible when and where you need it.
Verses is an app that helps you to memorize the Scriptures. I really wish I was one of those people who have a ton of Bible verses memorized but unfortunately, I am not. This app has been a huge help. Essentially the app advances you through a series of quick memory games and your progress can be tracked either alone or with friends.
If you like to listen to sermons, this is a great app which I use listen to most of my favorite preachers. It’s great while driving, keeps you positive and moves you forward despite being stuck in traffic. The app also automatically downloads and sorts the newest episodes of your subscribed podcasts. I just discovered this cool app. Idisciple has music, videos, radio, daily devotionals, growth plans, sermons and so many other features including a personalized daily home feed where you can browse personal content recommendations based on your preferences. You can receive content from top Christian authors, speakers, and ministries such as Rick Warren, Andy Stanley, Joyce Meyer, Ravi Zacharias, John C. Maxwell, Third Day, Anne Graham and so much more! Seriously, stop scrolling through your social media feed and download this app - it’s awesome!
